About the project
The school’s first digital biodiversity catalogue, built with React, Express and MongoDB. It has bilingual search, role-based login and admin review, with 153 plant records and 970 photos.
I made responsive WebP versions of all 1,033 images. Added up across the library, the 480 px versions are 98.7% smaller than the originals (about 2.1 GB down to 28 MB), and the 1600 px versions are 93.6% smaller.
The site has had about 37,000 page loads since late 2024, counted from server logs.
The screenshots show the site’s demo mode, which uses anonymous sample data.
